Said it before, and saying it again...

Job searching is a huge pain in the butt. Unfortunately, the Poetry and Internet Cat Video Watching Factory is not hiring.

Otherwise, it's another beautiful day in paradise.

Hot Mess Misadventures in the Rubber City

I'm unemployed again. I have been for almost two months. I knew the last job was only seasonal, but I was kind of hoping to be able to stay a little bit longer. Then again, I wasn't exactly impressed with the way things were run. Communication between management and staff could have been way better than it was. I can't complain too much. Good or bad, it was a learning experience.

Now I'm looking for work and finding the same five things I applied for over and over again. How frustrating.

And as much as I want to put on a happy face and think positive thoughts, sometimes my mind veers over to the dark side. I constantly beat myself up because I am no where near where I wanted to be or what I wanted to be doing in my 30's. I worry that I have disappointed my family and loved ones. I sure as hell am disappointed with myself.

The joys of depression, ladies and gentlemen!

On the plus side, I'm trying to stay creative. Creativity is survival. On top of writing, I'm also trying to draw and craft more. Plus, I've been re-learning how to play guitar.

I'll be OK. And if I'm not OK, it's not permanent. I need to remind myself of that.

OK, then.

The past month has been quite the whirlwind. Since the lay-off, I spent a few weeks applying for jobs, interviewing for jobs, and jumping through the necessary bureaucratic hoops for unemployment comp. Then, not even a whole month after losing the last job, I got a new one. The company has a strict policy about using their name in social media. Basically, its retail at a very fine chain that sells clothes and other fine goods at low prices, and their name rhymes with PJ Snacks.

So far, well, its a job. The management is nice, the coworkers are OK, and the customers are just as "awesome" as can be expected. I don't hate it nor do I love it. Its a hell of a lot easier than telemarketing, at least.

I guess I'm having one of those this-isn't-what-I-wanted-my-life-to-be-like-at-this-age kind of days. Self pity at its finest!

So This Happened...

I just got laid off today. The job itself wasn't the greatest. However my coworkers and my management team were awesome. I doubt I'll get a chance to work with people that great ever again, but you never know.

Oh, and trying to figure out how to file for unemployment in the great stat of Ohio is kind of a pain in the butt.

Anyway, I posted new art. Give it a look if you want.

How's everyone else doing? Do people still follow me? If so, cool.

Livejournal is still a thing, apparently

Hey folks! It's been a while since I last posted a blog here. I still check in on the friends page from time to time (mostly out of boredom...haha). Anyway, I figured I'd check in to show that I'm still alive, and see if anyone else I used to follow is still alive too.

Not too much has changed since my last post. Maybe my employment status. I've been working at a telemarketing firm for about a year and a half now. Basically, my job i to call people at their place of employment and survey them to see if they qualify for a free subscription to a trade magazine. The job is just as exciting as it sounds. Getting a weekly paycheck is nice, though.

Maybe I'll post here more frequently. Maybe I won't. We'll know when it happens.

Anyway, it's been good to check in.

Kiss me, I’m (not) Shitfaced!

How are you celebrating St. Patrick’s Day?

This has got to be the most sober St. Pat's Day I've had in years. I'm broke, and Scott is Grandma-sitting, so no green beer for me.

Instead, I went for a jog this morning. I did about 2.5 miles. Awesome.

Also, the greenest thing I had to drink was mint tea.

Things may change tonight and I may get to imbibe a little. I doubt they will. No worries. I'm sure I'll survive a St. Pat's Day where I don't hear the same Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly song fifty times.

Writer's Block: R.I.P

What do you want done with your body after you die?

Either cremate me or donate my body to science. I DO NOT want to be presevred in a casket. Its creepy.
